Activation window
The activation window is the fixed period an order stays open waiting for an SMS; here it is twenty minutes from purchase.
In detail
When it closes with no message, the order is cancelled and credited back in full by the expiry sweep, within a minute of the recorded expiry — no ticket required. Extending an activation pushes the expiry out by ten minutes from the moment of the call. The window exists because a number held indefinitely is a number nobody else can be sold.
