A prepaid balance is the euro credit held on an account, spent per delivered code and funded before use rather than invoiced afterwards.

Prepaid removes the chargeback exposure that makes card processing expensive in this vertical, and that saving is what keeps the per-SMS prices where they are. Balance never expires, and refunds land back on it within seconds. It is not freely withdrawable to a wallet — referral earnings are, above €50 — so fund what you expect to spend.
